Introduction

The major causative role of micro-organisms in the pathogenesis of pulp and peri - apical diseases has clearly been demonstrated.1 The main aim of endodontic therapy is to disinfect the entire root canal system, which requires the elimination of micro-organisms and microbial components and the prevention of its reinfection during and after treatment.
